Why We Exist — Our Brand Story

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

【Everything, Backed by Evidence】
With the global boom, products bearing the name “matcha” have multiplied. Yet there is still no clear standard, and in reality their origins, raw materials,
and production methods vary widely. That’s why we define what’s “authentic” using verifiable criteria.

Japanese‑grown tencha; shaded for 20+ days; low‑heat micro‑milling; first flush; single origin & residue‑compliance checks; lot‑specific COAs. By making these published standards our common language, we have chosen to protect real matcha.

The New “Matcha” Standard We’re Building — v1.1

True Matcha (v1.1) — Product Eligibility & Disclosure Standard

Raw Material

Tencha (Japan‑grown) only. Not allowed: sencha powder or any unshaded leaves.

Definition: Matcha = powdered tea from shade‑grown leaves (tencha), consumed as a whole‑leaf powder.

Cultivation (Shade)

Shaded ≥ 20 consecutive days prior to harvest.
Extended shading elevates amino acids (e.g., theanine) and moderates catechin‑driven astringency.

Harvest

First flush only (peak sweetness & aroma)
Single‑origin lots; identify farm/prefecture.

Required Disclosures (Label & LP)

Rigorous residue checks (pesticides, heavy metals, etc.) per lot.
Lot‑level COA available; show spec/result/pass‑fail.

Milling (Particle Engineering)

Micro‑milled under low‑heat (equipment‑agnostic)
Publish particle size: D50 7–12 µm / D90 ≤22 µm (ceremonial reference)

Required Disclosures (Label & LP)

Show: Shade days / Tencha / Micro‑milled (low‑heat) / First Flush / Single‑origin / COA access
(Recommended) Per cup (2 g): Caffeine / L‑theanine (mg)

Our Five Non-negotiables

Shaded 20+ Days → Deep Umami, Vivid Green

Shaded 20+ Days → Deep Umami, Vivid Green

Weeks of shading concentrate amino acids (like theanine) and reduce catechin-driven astringency for deep umami and a vivid green.
Tencha Only (Japan) → The Origin of 'Matcha'

Tencha Only (Japan) → The Origin of 'Matcha'

Matcha begins with tencha—shade-grown leaves milled to powder—so you consume the entire leaf, not just an infusion.
Micro-milled (Low Heat) → Silky, Ultra-fine Texture

Micro-milled (Low Heat) → Silky, Ultra-fine Texture

Low-heat micro-milling with tight particle-size control (D50/D90) delivers an ultra-fine powder.
First Flush (Ceremonial) → Sweetness at Its Peak

Our ceremonial matcha uses first-flush leaves only—the peak of sweetness and aroma.

FAQ

Matcha is powdered tencha—shade‑grown leaves milled ultra‑fine—so you consume the whole leaf. Shading tends to raise amino acids (theanine) and moderate catechins.

No. Quality varies with shade duration, first‑flush sourcing, tencha selection, low‑heat milling, and storage. We follow True Matcha (v1.1) and publish Shade days / Tencha / Micro‑milled / First Flush / Single‑origin.

The year’s first harvest when sweetness and aroma peak. We use first‑flush only.

Premium matcha typically uses 20+ days of shading for bright color and rounded umami.

No legal standard; real quality is a composite of color, flavor, particle size, shade days, and harvest. Check the COA.

Caffeine + L‑theanine support attention and sustained focus; long‑shaded first flush tends to be theanine‑rich for a clear, steady lift (individual responses vary).

Catechins including EGCG support defense against oxidative stress; whole‑leaf consumption is a key advantage of matcha.

Avoid light, air, moisture, heat. Refrigerate unopened (freezing ok). Finish within ~1 month after opening. Let warm to room temp before opening to prevent condensation.
